Well being of the Senior Citizens is mandated in the Constitution of India under Article 41.Accordingly Central and State Governments issued policies and Programmes for the welfare of Senior Citizens.Gauhati Senior Citizens Association, founded in the year 2000 is considered to be the path finder of the Assam Senior Citizens Association. The Association besides discussing the welfare of its members also engages in discussing and urging upon the Central and State Governments to mitigate the problems of all citizens.
